Title: Feet
Word Count: 100
Challenge [if applicable]: Feet!
Author's Notes [if desired]: Rated S for silly. Sorry about this. I'll try to think of a legitimate one later this week, but this plotbunny bit me on the nose.
"Feet!"
Snape advanced on Harry like a tornado, hissing and sparking and looking generally ominous. Harry backed cautiously against the wall.
"How dare you," Snape began, emphasizing each word with a thrust of his wand toward Harry's chest, "suggest that we --"
"Now, Severus," said Flitwick mildly, "the accepted way to begin a duel --"
Snape whirled. "Is to start from an agreed distance, measured in meters! Not feet!"
"It used to be feet," McGonagall pointed out. "Still is, across the pond. Harry's probably just been reading too many American books."
"In my day it was feet," said Binns, but nobody listened.

But I do have to admit that the metric system squicks me more than feet EVER could.

"looking generally ominous"
"it used to be"
"in my day."
Everyone puts in an oar. Jolly good show. v. silly. Not squicky. I like not squicky.

This was brilliant. Brought to mind the confuzzled looks I'd sometimes get when explaining something in centimetres or, even worse, kilometres. *g*
